Waiho River Stopbanks

West Coast Regional Council (applicant) have lodged a resource consent application with the West Coast Regional Council (Council) to undertake construction of new stopbanks, raise existing stopbanks and associated activities within the Waiho River bed. The application area is along the true right of the Waiho River from the State Highway 6 Bridge to the west of the Westland District Council Oxidation Ponds. The application is to raise two existing stopbanks. Stopbanks to be raised are located in the approximate vicinity from State Highway 6 bridge west to the helicopter landing area, and from Ponds Road & State Highway 6 intersection to west of the oxidation ponds. The new stop bank is proposed to be located between the two existing stopbanks. A term of 35 years is sought for these consent.

The resource consent was limited notified to one party on the 5th of December 2022. There was one submission received, in which the submitter wished to be heard.

The hearing date is set for 9:30am on Friday 28 July 2023 and will be held at the Grey District Council Chambers. The hearing will be open to members of the public.
