The West Coast Regional works with the West Coast community to help make the region a fantastic place to live, play and do business. The West Coast region extends from Kahurangi Point in the north and as far south as Awarua Point, a distance of 600 kilometres.
The West Coast Regional Council was established in November 1989 when 14 different bodies with regional and resource management roles were amalgamated.
As well as managing the land, air and water resources of the region, we also co-ordinate transport and emergency management functions. We are committed to working alongside the community that is forward looking, progressive and innovative.
