Water take metering requirements
The amended regulations require measurement of water takes above five litres/sec every 15 minutes and the provision of this information to Council (essentially telemetered measurement).
The timeframes for when this must be complied with vary, with water takes of 20L/s or more needing to comply within two years of the regulations taking effect (i.e. by 02 September 2022) and lesser takes having longer timeframes for compliance.
Council is currently working through how this may work on the West Coast, they types of systems that will be needed and how this information will be able to be provided to the Council. Further information will be updated as available.
