Representation Review - Have Your Say
West Coast Regional Council are commencing a Representation Review to determine whether we have the right number of Councillors in the right place to best represent you.
Council have considered the current representation arrangements and are seeking your feedback on keeping the number of Councillors and the location of those Councillors the same as we currently have.
Why are we undertaking a Representation Review?
Representation Review is a statutory requirement for all the Councils under Local Electoral Act 2001. The purpose of the review is to consider whether current representation arrangements require any changes. These reviews are required at least every six years. Our last review was 2018/19. New arrangements will apply for local elections in 2025 and 2028.
What is being proposed?
Council has considered the current representation arrangements and have decided to seek your feedback on maintaining the current number of Councillors and the location of those Councillors the same. At present there are two representatives in Buller, three in Grey and two in Westland.
