Biosecurity
Biosecurity in our region
Invasive animals and plants harm our natural environment, impact our economy and reduce our local biodiversity. We're working hard to make managing pests easier to help protect livelihoods and biodiversity across the region.
Effective biosecurity measures can prevent the introduction and reduce the spread of invasive species, pests, and diseases that could devastate native flora and fauna and harm agricultural productivity.
The West Coast Regional Council has a commitment to maintain and enhance the environmental values of the region. Our biosecurity activities are a vital component of the national biosecurity system.
