The West Coast Regional Council continually monitors surface water quality at a range of sites that include rivers, lakes, and coastal marine environments . Most of these sites, to varying degrees, are impacted by human activity that may affect their quality. Data from this monitoring is used to assesses the state and trends of our surface water quality resources and allows the community to make informed decisions on their use and management.
The current report summarises the results from the Monitoring Programme, for data up to 2022.
