South Westland Fresh Water Management Unit
South Westland FMU
The South Westland Freshwater Management Unit (FMU) Group was confirmed in December 2020 and met for the first time in February 2021.
The purpose of the Group was to identify the values and issues of the community in the FMU around freshwater quality and quantity, and to make recommendations to the Council about what future plan provisions and actions may be needed to manage land and water resources in the FMU.

The Group met over three full day workshops in 2021, and also hosted a site visit for the Council in January 2022 to show freshwater issues in the FMU. The Group provided their recommendations to the Regional Council's Resource Management Committee in March 2022.
